At project inception, Four Winds Group developed a client model for fleet wide maintenance based upon meetings with Port Engineers, Harbor Managers, Terminal Engineering, Materials and the IT group. Information flow was described and a prototype was developed to implement world-class automated maintenance management. In the first phase, all aspects of maintenance management for passenger terminals were addressed. A database was developed which included all maintenance objects, procedures, staff skills and schedule components to establish the preventative maintenance / dispatch management. Each terminal manager has direct access to the database to add work requests and monitor work progress in real time his or her PC. Requests can be submitted and approved in the same day due to the immediate routing from the terminal to the terminal engineer or from any vessel to the port engineer. Approved work then appears immediately at the Eagle Harbor repair facility for assignment to various skilled trades for scheduling.
